  • I cannot rate WoodBlocX highly enough, what an amazing product! This is 'Phase one' of my new build back garden. I required a small (stepped) retaining wall to finish off my new shed and didn't want to lug heavy wooden sleepers around. WoodBlocX fitted the bill perfectly, light enough to lift, sturdy enough to do the job. From the first emails with Aide, to the custom design by Calum, their customer service is nothing short of outstanding. This was my first order from WoodBlocX, but certainly won't be my last. I might not get WoodBlocX installer of the Year award, but we're really pleased with the finished result and would highly recommend them to anyone.

• Great product and excellent service

  • It was hard work but well worth it - the L-shaped bed I built looks beautiful; it has been greatly admired and I know it's well made! Everything arrived on time and was very well packed. For anyone else doing a build I'd recommend reading the instructions very carefully and letting the wood dry out well, it' harder to get the parts to fit easily when wet. That said, I am 74 and built it without assistance so I expect most people can do it easily. The photo was taken before it was completed.

  • The assistance I received was first class and I made a couple of changes to my original measurements. The order was delivered on Monday 29th January and I spent a couple of days working on the new pathway. I still have plenty to do but the layer by layer instructions are really helpful and it is very satisfying as the layers start to build. Definitely recommend this company and I am looking forward to completing this project and doing more in the future.

• New raised planter

  • Parts arrived on Tuesday just before noon. I had erected the wall by Thursday afternoon, took me about 4hrs in total. Instructions were clear, although I'm not sure whether the corner brackets are installed before or after the plastic plugs are fitted. I installed them after. All in all l am pleased with the finished product. All l need to do is fill the two sections I have created.

  • The issue that I found was the installation of the metal tie ins, the holes were are too tight a fit which does not give you any room for error to manoeuver the plates into position, they ought to be slightly larger

• Bespoke designed planter

  • Excellent quality of product with good instructions. I think the holes on the metal corner angle brackets could do with being about 1.5 mm larger as it is difficult to get over the dowels causing, on occasion, the angle bracket to distort and making the next later above harder to fit snugly. Another suggestion would be to suggest using sand under the first row of blocks on soft ground to make easier to level. The pallet on which my delivery was made was of very poor quality and falling apart so the delivery driver had real problems with load stability and hence safety. Expensive but you get what you pay for so reasonable value for money

• Building blocks for grownups!

  • Custom designed with the client’s ideas for the site in mind, it came together well and looks rustically robust. The clear instructions and layer by layer fitting guide suppled made the job of building efficient. The nature of the task decrees a fair amount of ‘clout’, but do trust the designer’s colour coded ‘map’ when piecing the kit together. Two comments: The metal brackets used to secure buttresses do have an effect on fitting, as they are not recessed between block layers. Their accumulative thickness means longer blocks may not sit so well. They tend to ‘rock’ over the spot. A way round is to cut the block at this point, to allow the ends to sit level with those before and after. Secondly, I suggest that the holes tin the capping, should also have the recess ring to allow the capping to sit snugly onto top block layer. While the capping is now tightly on, there is a slight unnecessary gap between it and the top block layer. I haven’t included a photo for security reasons, but it does look good, made more of, with the addition of fence downlighting.

• Lego for adults

  • Sent woodblock the measurements and thy came up with a design in 24 hours. Some small adjustments and design was finalised. The kit arrived on time. Instructions for my bespoke design were missed but a quick phone call fixed that . The kit was relatively easy to assemble. The challenge was getting g the base late stable but once that was done the lares went on relatively easily. My 2.7m × 3.9m bed took a out 6 hours to completely build

  • Very happy with my WoodBlocx pond, just one thing would have made it better and that is if the pond liner had been box welded to the right fit, fitting the liner was very difficult and time consuming. The team at Woodblocx were very helpful as I had a few issues placing my order at first, but they responded very quickly when I contacted them.

• Good design and good products

  • This was my second WoodBlocx order and I found it more difficult to put together than the first as some of the blocks didn't fit as well as they could have. I suspect that this is down to wood being a natural material and shrinking/expanding with weather condition. Where there were issues, these were solved by rotating the block or switching it out for a different block of the same size (or in one case finding a large mallet). Overall though I'm very happy and would recommend, fairly simple to put together and quick to build complicated things.

• • Excellent. Straightforward to assemble (one a rectangular raised bed, one a circular RB). Needed some hefty hammering at times to fit the dowels, but I got there. The system is very forgiving - I worried about lining-up the dowels and holes precisely but it worked. Tips: get the grounding-level as level as possible (on grass); fix the liners with a few upholstery staples before fixing the capping blocks - stops them moving about. Instruction leaflets excellent. delivery man good and helpful. WoodBlocX are a great firm to deal with, and friendly too...

• Garden lego - almost childs play!

  • The design service was fast and really good, as was the delivery after order placement. On checking, one item was short shipped (not enough ground anchors) but these were sent through in a couple of days, so no complaints there. Regarding installation, if these were going on a level hard surface, construction would be pretty quick and easy. However, both mine were on the edge of or in a slightly sloping lawn which is a bit more challenging, to get it all level and end up with the desired perfect finish. One or two small issues were experienced but with a bit of DIY skill and ingernuity, these were overcome, and reported back to the design team for a bit of consideration. This having been said, I have ended up with two beautiful flower beds which look infinitely better than a few sleepers with screws and bolts protruding, and no proper capping. Hope the photos portray this.. Thanks to WoodblocX for an ingenious product.

  • Prompt design. To the exact spec we were looking for, a raised vegetable bed and a tortoise enclosure. Built it with my 2 children 7 and 5. Easy enough to build. Took about 4 hours. And very happy with final finish. We now have a great veg patch and one happy Tortoise!

  • Excellent product , I have used throughout my garden for island flower/ vegetable beds and border systems - Woodblocx is ideal for various uses and I would recommend using the system to anyone. Very simple to install and looks great when completed.

Three very minor problems, The first the delivery lorry arrived as scheduled, but unfortunately there was a problem with the tail lift, but the driver promised to return the following day, which he did. The second was that no instruction leaflet was sent. I contacted the company who sent the instructions straight away by E Mail. The third problem was that one of the top pieces on the raised beds had been damaged in transit. I contacted the company and by the following morning a new piece was delivered to my door. To conclude, I was very pleased with the raised bed kits and I received excellent service from the company, I wish other companies were as good. I would recommend the raised bed kits and this company.

• Community Water feature

  • I purchased a water feature with side planting beds for a community garden in Quorn. Harry helped with the design and was very patient with the slow process. Every decision had to go through a consultation process but it was worth the time because everyone is on board with the build. The whole point of the garden is that there is 100% community involvement. That sounds great but it is not easy! We have not started the build yet but I was very pleased with the delivery process. I worried that the pallet might be dropped in the park and would have to be unpacked and carried piece by piece to the inaccessible site behind the Parish Office. It arrived at 8.30 am on a Friday. I 'rushed' to the site on my mobility scooter. By the time I I arrived at 9.00am the pallet had been delivered to the actual site by the driver by magic and with extraordinary intelligence. I could not believe it!. It was unpacked and sorted by the staff from Homefield College who are supervising the build with some of their students. They are young adults with learning difficulties and are very excited to have such an interesting project. No pics yet but I will send them to Harry as the build takes place. This kit is ideal for community work as the instructions are visual and easy to follow like Lego. Brilliant. When the water feature is finished in sure the team will want another unit.

I placed my order well in advance (10 days) as I had taken a week off work to do the job with the delivery date being the first day of my holiday. It was suppose to arrive on the Monday but did not arrive until the Tuesday and received someone else's order. I rang the office to notify them of the error and was advised that a new order would arrive on the following Friday (the last day of my holiday), so as a result I have a backyard half completed. Not happy at all with my experience and will not recommend the product to anyone. There was no offer to compensate me in anyway for the loss of my time.

• Custom designed raised bed with 45 degree angled section

  • Preparing my custom design was quick and accurate, ordering was simple and assembly perfectly manageable; the final result is exactly as I'd hoped. Building the raised bed took longer than I'd expected but was straight forward and the documentation with layer-by-layer instructions was easy to follow. I can reiterate how important a level base is to work from - I took time to prepare thoroughly and even 5mm unevenness makes a difference, so I was glad I took extra time on the foundation. I have a couple of little pedantic comments. The metal corner brackets are sometimes hard to fit properly - they need absolutely perfect alignment of the blocks and pins which is sometimes hard to achieve. Two of my top finishing pieces were slightly too long and I had to trim about 5mm off them, being wood this was trivial using a "chop" saw and better too long than too short! It is great to have spares of some of the "consumable" items but there are rather a lot left over as well as quite a lot of blocx and it seems a waste to simply discard them. Overall a very pleasing result.

• • Very helpful design service. Very good product although an octagon takes a little longer to do than a rectangle, but that's our fault for choosing a more difficult shape. Only issue was that Palletways delivered it one day late.

  • This week I set about making up a pond. First I had to lay the paving slabs as I decided that was the only way to get a flat surface. I wasn't sure whether I would be able to do this, being in my 70's, but was so pleased with how it all went together. Even I with my arthritic hands was able to hammer the dowels into the wood as per instructions. The only thing I would comment on is I would have liked clearer instructions on inserting the liner particularly around the corners. Today I am off to buy the plants and pump to go into the pond. I can't wait to see what wildlife it will attract. My husband reckons it looks very professional. Thankyou WoodblocX. I will be buying from you again in the Autumn to replace a raised bed this time.

• Make sure you keep your invoice for the full 15 years

  • Good product used as above ground fish pond, look great initially. However even with a 15 year guarantee the pond stated to come apart after about 10 years, of course i had lost our receipt, I know my fault. Company claimed they could find no record of my purchase even when I sent pictures of their product !. At least they did offer a discount on a new item.

• • I’ve used Woodblocx a couple of times now and think the custom design process is great. The designer was helpful, quick and efficient and tweaked the design until all parties were happy. The ordering was a breeze and delivery on time - no issues. Have to say the addition of a peg removal tool was a great new idea (thankfully not needed this time) and the pre-shortened pegs for the top layer were a welcome addition and time saver. Everything went together as it should. I look forward to the next project!

• • I have given three stars as In hindsight, I wouldn’t of purchased these raised beds as you really do need a flat surface to build on. Otherwise the bricks don’t form together properly and you get big gaps in between the bricks.. I had Landscapers build mine for me as I am disabled and they had a nightmare with it. So eventually I had decking fitted. Otherwise I was going to have to concrete the area anyway. The other thing that I did not think about was the amount of compost, sand stone etc that was needed to fill them that cost a lot of money and took nearly 6 tons to fill both beds. I also purchased the raised bed netting poles which in hindsight again I wouldn’t of purchased as within a week. There was starting to rust as they are not pre-protected, so I have had to buy some paint to make them weatherproof & bring them inside as aesthetically it doesn’t look very nice rust looking poles with a nice new beds. As for the customer service I can’t fault them they’ve been fantastic pre-buying these raised beds. Overall, there lovely beds and look fantastic, but unless you have got an absolute flat surface do not buy them as you will get gaps in between the bricks and they won’t fit flush which then causes issues on the following layer. You also need to calculate how much compost you will need for the size of the raised bed that you are wanting.

  • There was a bit of a lead-in time before delivery but I was made aware of this from the outset and the agreed date was stuck to without further delays. The system went together very easily, the hardest part being the ground prep work before starting (but that was down to me), however once done it all went together in an afternoon (4m x 1m x .5m long raised bed) Plenty of spares were included too. All in all very happy with the finished result.

The finished planter looked as expected. Slightly disappointed (hence only 4 stars) that the joints between the blocks were somewhat uneven, particularly the angled blocks making the curves, some very tight, some with gaps.

  • As a product, I could not recommend woodblocx more - we built the entire structure in two days, including levelling with no prior experience. We had one small hickup at the steps as the capping needed sawing but otherwise everything went smoothly. I've included two photos of the build, and three after filling and adding topsoil and turf to the middle of the lawn.

I cannot see we had any communication from yourself regarding this and have therefore been unable to assist in the way we normally would. Our wood is rough sawn as shown online and as a natural product is can sometimes get small cracks, these occur when the wood dries from being wet during rain, etc, these will naturally close themself. We would happily replace any items with large cracks that may have been caused during transit, please just contact us. The system is designed to be built on a flat and level surface, this ensures all the blocks go in easily, there should be no need to hammer down with force and we provide a dowel remover tool so you do not have to drill any blocks out as this will cause damage and cracking to the wood. I am very sorry you are unhappy with the quality, please do contact us so we can resolve this with you.

• • The product itself is "OK" it is hugely overpriced in my opinion for what is essentially pressure treated timber with pre-drilled holes and plastic peg system that allows it to interconnect a bit like Lego. The company itself though seems completely incapable of dealing with issues arising from the product. In my case I had missing parts in the order, new blocx split on me during assembly, a faulty design that I had to retrospectively fix and asked to pay for parts I did not need or had no use for. The product is marketed as "east to build", No not at all from my experience it took me 3x the time I had anticipated to basically fix what was wrong. When I tried to resolve with WoodBlocX I got obfuscation, denial followed by being completely ignored. Months later I get what appears to be a sincere apology and offer of a significant refund only for them to not actually give me a refund.... Avoid at all costs, you can get cheaper and better options elsewhere certainly a better customer experience.

  • Building the woodblocx up was straightforward. Not so straightforward was the digging out of soil for the buttresses in retaining wall - we were building along and into a bank. The steps in it are nice and broad but we did have problems finding paving slabs to fit at 1.5m wide by 40cm isn't a multiple of any standard size. We had to incorporate an extra top step due to the slopes in the garden which isn't woodblocx if you look closely at the photo - but I'm sure they could have added it if we had asked. Looks good now its finished and planted up.

• Reasonable product, bad customer experience

  • The instructions consist of general written advice then drawings specific to your design. It would have been better to have specific written advice to go along with the drawings as some of the drawings didn't make everything clear, eg, overlapping angle plates. As per the general advice, I spent the time ensuring the first layer was flat. This allowed the remaining layers to go together quite quickly with a little brute force necessary here and there. The box looks good now complete and appears to be sturdy.

• Very personal focused service

  • Works really great for a simple raised bed on level ground. However, this was a real challenge for a (competant) DIYer to build a large complex design into a sloping site, with many different levels, and very stony ground. Not Woodblocx - or the fault of the product - at all! I'm sure however that I could now do a better job using the lessons I learned from this project One thought for improvement. Woodblocx post a lot of "how to" videos that are really useful but in hindsight, I think it would be really great to have a few that look in more detail at site preparation and various less common scenarios relating to this.

  • Product wise, I really liked that the way this works meant I could build it by myself without needing anyone to help with lifting or carrying, and having it delivered on a pallet was so much easier than the alternatives. Despite the suggestions of some people upon hearing my plans, I did not need to enlist male assistance! Unless you're embarking on something particularly expansive I would expect any adult in reasonable health should be able to handle this solo if necessary. I would recommend watching all the little videos on the website before you start your build as it makes things go a bit easier. It doesn't take long to watch them and I was glad I had, even though I was fairly comfortable beforehand. In terms of building, I wasn't sure how easy it would be to follow the plans, but if you spend a little bit of time familiarising yourself with all the different block sizes, etc before you start (and maybe annotate at least the first few layers with a quick list of how many of which size blocks to grab) it helps. After the first couple of layers you'll know which colour is which and what you're doing. Actually putting it all together is not difficult. Get the base right and the rest will be fine. Their estimated build time was 2 days, which was about right. It took me a day and a half, but it is winter so they're not exactly long days. I'd mostly prepared the ground in advance. So if you're planning ahead you can rely upon their estimated time. I'm really pleased with the end result. It's much better than I imagined when the idea of creating something like this originally occurred to me. I'm glad they popped up in my google results. I would happily recommend them to anyone.

Everything fitted well and the time spend was well worth while. Cannot fault the actual product. Still to build the bespoke raised bed but the one I've done looks great.

• • The product is ingenious. It's design can be applied to any size of retainer, using only a few commonly sized wood blocks. The components fix tightly together in a very clever way and give the walls a very robust feeling. With the kit came essential components - such as the tubes - to aid the build. Moreover, I was able to construct the planter mainly on my own - which was great fun! As I had designed it, there were some issues that arose during its construction due to a sloping site, but I was able to contact WoodBlocx who were happy to send me a few extra blocks which were delivered promptly. Over all a very satisfying project. Thank you.

  • We have built the first of three units recently purchased. Blocks are well prepared and accurately drilled for the dowels - however the need for a really firm level base needs to be emphasised. After the tricky first layer is located by the layer above it, building becomes easy - you soon learn to keep your thumb away from the hammer! Certainly looks good and I am sure will last for years.

Delivery to UK mainland is FREE on all orders and generally takes around 3 working days.

Your WoodBlocX order will be delivered on a pallet and we can only guarantee kerbside delivery. If you are in a hurry for your WoodBlocX order please contact us (if we can, we will try to speed up your delivery). 

You can select an estimated delivery date at checkout. Deliveries can be arranged from Mon to Fri between 9am and 5pm (except Bank Holidays). Saturday delivery slots are currently not available. Tools & liners ordered separately will be charged £12 for Parcelforce delivery so remember to include them with your WoodBlocX order!

We advise choosing a suitable delivery date a few days prior to the date you wish to start your WoodBlocX build just in case your delivery is delayed due to circumstances out of our control. Please DO NOT book a tradesperson to begin work on the day your order is planned to arrive. 

When we dispatch your order from our warehouse we will send you full tracking details for your pallet. You will then be called by our delivery partner a few days before delivery to confirm your delivery slot/date.

Pallets do not necessarily require a signature. We can arrange for deliveries to be left at a secure location at your property if you are not in at the time of delivery.
